I have been Type 1 Diabetic since I was diagnosed in 1999.

My mission is to create public interest and demand for
accessible and affordable healthcare and investing in research for a cure.
​
My book, Everything I Never Had Time to Explain About My Diabetes aims to help shed light on living with type 1 diabetes as a child, teenager, young adult, and human being.

Camp Possibilities
​
I’ve been with Camp Possibilities since it opened in 2004. Back then, I was an 11 year old camper. It was the first place I ever felt like I wasn't weird for having diabetes.
When I was 16 I came back to volunteer as a counselor. I became known for the funny rap songs I'd perform at the talent show every year, the kids and I came up with the name "Dia-Beats." Everyone at Camp Possibilities is family to me.

I've been at camp for so long now that kids that were my first campers are now counselors.

I'm getting old.

Activism​
When I turned 26 I learned the hard way how confusing health insurance is and how expensive insulin and the supplies I need to manage my diabetes can be.
​
Rationing insulin is dangerous, but many people do because of the cost. I've rationed supplies too, so have many of my friends.
I decided to do something about it.
​
I've been writing open letters, speaking to Congress, and trying to get to the bottom of how and why insulin has become so expensive and what we can do to make healthcare more accessible and affordable for everyone.
